Why is WYDOT proposing changes? 

As the state agency appointed by the people of Wyoming to take care of all physical aspects of the state transportation system, which The Y is a part of, it is WYDOT's mission to identify, address, and, if feasible, improve inefficiencies in the system.  WYDOT and Teton County have identified the loss of service at The Y as a priority and WYDOT has proposed an interim fix to increase efficiency and reduce traffic delay for the motorists traveling on that system.  The lack of roadway redundancy in the valley's transportation network has, and will continue to cause US 89, WYO 22 and WYO 390 to be oversaturated with traffic and will continue to clog up thoroughfares and major intersections in Teton County.
