Transportation Commission has important oversight role
Members of the Transportation Commission effectively serve as the “board of directors” for the Wyoming Department of Transportation. Their responsibilities include the planning, construction and maintenance budgets. Commissioners are responsible for formulating, planning and adopting official policy as well as being the final authority on the Department of Transportation’s rules and regulations. Another important function is approving the short- and long term-construction program.
The Commission usually meets the third Wednesday and Thursday of each month, which is generally the week following WYDOT's monthly bid letting. This arrangement allows the Commission to award bids quickly to contractors eager to proceed with construction.
