Legal Size Limits

 

Width:               8'6"

Height:              14'

Length:             60' - Single-unit, or semi-trailer in a truck tractor, semi-trailer combination.

81' - semi-trailer, trailer, or double semi-trailer combined length in a truck-tractor and semi-trailer, trailer, or double semi-trailer combination including the connecting mechanism.

48’ - semi-trailer.

40’ - trailer or second semi-trailer.

For consecutive towed vehicles, if the weight difference between the vehicles exceeds 5,000 pounds, the heavier towed vehicle shall be directly behind the truck-tractor and the lighter towed vehicle shall be last.

85' - Any combination of vehicles other than those listed above.

 

No combination listed above shall consist of more than 3 single vehicles.    

 

97' - For saddle mount combinations consisting of no more than 3 saddle mounts.  Additional vehicles may be transported when safely loaded on the frame of a vehicle in a properly assembled saddle mount combination.

Legal Weight Limits

 

All Highway:

Single Axle: 20,000 lbs.

Tandem Axle: 36,000 lbs.

Triple Axle: 42,000 lbs.

Each Wheel: 10,000 lbs.

Each Tire:

Steering: 750 lbs./inch of tire width

Other Tires: 600 lbs./inch of tire width

 

Gross Weight Interstate: 117,000 lbs. - All axle groups must comply with Gross Weight Table I below

Gross Weight Primary & Secondary at the operator’s discretion:

80,000 lbs. - Must comply with Gross Weight Table II below; or

117,000 lbs. - All axle groups must comply with Gross Weight Table I below
